Child Protection
In Queensland the Child Protection Act 1999 is the legal framework guiding Child Safety Services in child protection.
These laws aim to protection children who have been harmed, or are at risk of harm. Reardon Family Lawyers appear frequently in the Southport Children’s Court on matters relating to child protection and also deal with the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services commonly referred to as DOCs.
If the Department of Child Safety believes your child has been, or is being or is at risk of being harmed they may:
- ask you to enter into a voluntary agreement;
- remove your child from your care;
- apply for an assessment order; or
- apply for a child protection order.
If the Department of Child Safety are investigating your child/ren, it is important that you obtain immediate legal advice. Reardon Family Lawyers are able to assist clients in all matters relating to child protection.
